COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

At Amani Communities Africa, we believe that peaceful, connected, and empowered communities are the foundation of sustainable and resilient nations. Guided by the African philosophy of Ubuntu — “I am because we are” — we recognize that the well-being of one person is deeply connected to the well-being of others and the environment around us.

Through collaboration, dialogue, and community engagement, we create spaces where people can build trust, strengthen relationships, and work together for peace, justice, and social transformation. We partner with like-minded organizations, institutions, and networks to promote a culture of peace, compassion, understanding, and collective responsibility across Africa and beyond.

Our community programs include:

  1. Africa Peace & Environment Summit (APES)

The Africa Peace & Environment Summit (APES) is a continental platform that brings together diverse voices to explore the connection between peacebuilding and environmental sustainability in Africa.

The summit convenes peacebuilders, environmental advocates, youth leaders, faith actors, policymakers, researchers, and grassroots communities to engage in meaningful dialogue, share experiences, and develop practical solutions for a more peaceful and sustainable future.

Held annually, APES goes beyond conversations by supporting year-round working groups that implement the call to Action and commitments developed during the summit.

2. Pan-African Mediation, Conciliation & Traditional Justice Convention (PACT)

The Pan-African Mediation, Conciliation & Traditional Justice Convention (PACT) is a continental gathering dedicated to strengthening African-centered approaches to peacebuilding, justice, and reconciliation.

PACT brings together practitioners, scholars, elders, faith leaders, policymakers, youth, and community mediators to promote dialogue between traditional justice systems and modern conflict-resolution practices.

The convention creates opportunities for learning, collaboration, and sharing indigenous knowledge that contributes to sustainable peace and social harmony across African communities.

3. JustPeace Conversations

JustPeace Conversations is a monthly dialogue platform that creates safe and informed spaces for discussions on justice, peace, governance, and social cohesion.

The conversations bring together legal experts, peace practitioners, community leaders, youth, and grassroots actors to explore current social issues and encourage responsible civic engagement.

Through open dialogue and community-centered discussions, JustPeace Conversations promotes justice-based peace, understanding, and collective action for stronger and more peaceful communities.
